Time:     1 pm – 4 pm

Where:  Ouruhia Reserve (Chenery Avenue, off Marshland Road)

This project involves planting 3,300 trees and shrubs at the Ouruhia Reserve as part of the Ministry for Primary Industries initiative to plant one billion trees in New Zealand over the next 10 years. The Student Volunteer Army, Citycare and students from Ouruhia School will be playing their part in helping to reclaim our forest heritage.

The Ouruhia Reserve Planting Day marks the very first Community Guardians community event.

Just some of the reasons why we need to plant trees

Enhance natural landscapes
Tackle environmental issues like erosion
Reduce the effects of climate change
Moderate river flows
Provide important habitats for a range of native species
Invest in the future and create jobs
