Christchurch Airport pre-Christmas influx 2021

Christchurch Airport December 2021 min5

The Citycare Property team that provides maintenance support in the terminal at Christchurch Airport has been assisting with preparations for the pre-Christmas influx, especially as Aucklanders begin to travel here on 15 December.

Stuart Jacques, Terminal Services Manager, says the team is proud of the way it supports the airport terminal team.

“The earlier changing Alert Levels limited our ability to provide ‘business-as-usual’ services to all our clients, as we juggled MBIE’s daily guidance updates and planned ahead, as much as possible, for the government’s announcements.”

Stuart says the team has taken advantage of fewer passengers through the terminal since the pandemic began to help the airport team perform maintenance that is more tricky to do when the airport caters for its usual 6.93 million passengers per year.

“There were a few scheduling challenges, alongside the already unique issues that also come with providing maintenance services to an airport. However, we have managed to complete all the things the airport team wanted done before the Christmas break.

As usual, the wider Citycare Property teams have continued the other ongoing maintenance works for the airfield and wider campus, including making the gardens look immaculate for the increasing number of holiday visitors.

“We all love working at the airport and are really proud of what we do there to support the Gateway to the South Island, and helping show off our place in the world,” Stuart says.
