The steps Citycare Property’s Christchurch Airport team went through to install the 32 Kiwi character bollards outside the domestic and international terminal buildings were almost as multi-faceted as the characters themselves: build infrastructure to hold the bollards in place while being decorated, prime them ready for painting, apply protective clear lacquer to each completed character, then drill the holes and lock them into place facing towards the exiting travellers – all the time keeping them under wraps until they could be unveiled to an unsuspecting public.
