Stratford District Council – Three Waters Contract

We deliver

30 May 2019

Citycare Water have added Stratford District Council to our long list of District Council clients, meaning we now provide maintenance for this critical infrastructure for some 1.9 million New Zealanders.

From July 1, Citycare Water will be responsible for maintenance of the Three Waters Contract (water, wastewater and stormwater) in Stratford District for a three-year period, with further two-year renewal options. This newest contract adds to an existing long list of Citycare Water maintenance contracts.

Earlier in May, Citycare Water secured the Three Waters contract for Clutha District Council. This contract will also commence on July 1.

“One of the key features that sets Citycare Water apart is the collaborative approach taken with clients to identify ways to make operations more efficient and to improve the condition and performance of the Three Waters systems,” said Onno Mulder Chief Executive Officer Citycare Group.

Citycare Water has a well-developed toolkit of processes and technologies as well as access to a team of engineers and technicians developing and implementing the best approach to support clients in meeting the many challenges associated with providing safe drinking water and protecting waterways and the natural environment.

Stratford District Council were seeking delivery of high quality maintenance services but also wanted to secure increased cost certainty, better value for money and have staff based in the district dedicated to the contract. This is the only Citycare Water contract in the district, ensuring the core delivery team will be 100% focused on the services for Stratford District Council. The team will work from a newly established depot in Stratford. Importantly, Citycare Water will leverage its existing 40-strong Three Waters team in New Plymouth to provide highly cost-effective support for specialist services such as CCTV drainage inspections, undertaking more major works and providing the initial response to any emergency events.

In announcing the contract, Stratford District Council Chief Executive Sven Hanne said, “All tenders received were evaluated on a combination of quality, process, resourcing and cost. We are dedicated to smart procurement that delivers great services for the community and provides value for money to our Stratford district ratepayers. We are fortunate to have a range of excellent contractors working with us to provide great services to the Stratford district, and are excited to welcome on board Citycare to deliver the maintenance contract for drinking water, wastewater and storm water.”
