Woolston Community Facility Wins Award

Citycare Property are proud to have been awarded a Silver for the Woolston Community Facility at the recent Master Builders Commercial Project Awards. Citycare was engaged by Christchurch City Council to construct this new contemporary library for the local community.

It is a special place for reading, meetings, events, family time, making connections and nurturing learning. It has been a great project to work on for the Citycare team and has been well received by the Woolston community. The construction team consisted of Sean Boland (Construction Manager), Grant Kilmore (Project Manager), Paul Cameron (Site Manager) and Ryan Connolly (Project QS).

For a small building footprint, the build contained a large number of construction components. Due to less than ideal ground conditions, the foundation had to be heavily engineered. The main structure is constructed using a combination of both pre-cast concrete panels, and structural steel frames. The cladding is predominantly brick, which has been laid using a variety of brick patterns. This is a huge architectural feature, especially on the western elevation where the bricks creep out from the wall in a staggered pattern.

The build was completed in July last year and took seven months to complete.
